2010-2011: Cheek to UGA

Lindsay Cheek, a L10 at Georgia Elite, has committed to UGA for the 2010-2011 season, according to a site submission. Cheek will graduate early to join the GymDogs in time for the 2011 season. At the 2009 L10 Nationals, she placed 2nd AA, 2nd VT, 3rd UB and 3rd(t) BB in the Junior D division. In 2008, she placed 9th on UB and 11th AA in the Junior C division. Link: Videos on YouTube.com
USU Hires Anson as Assistant

Utah State has announced the hiring of former Iowa State star Janet Anson as an assistant coach. She replaces Dayna Smart-Allen. Anson has spent the last two seasons as a volunteer assistant at ISU. Link: USU Release

Stephanie Wagner has signed with Seattle Pacific, according to the GNAC and her local newspaper. The L10 from Sunburst (OR) placed 30th AA at the 2009 L10 Nationals, Senior D. She also placed 48th AA as a Sr. B in 2008. Link: YouTube.com Video

2010-2011: DeLuca to Ohio State

Alex DeLuca has committed to Ohio State, according to a site submission. A L10 from Ace Gymnastics in Florida, she placed 3rd AA at the NIT meet, after placing 8th AA and 5th on BB at the 2009 Region VIII L10 Regionals. In 2008, she tied for 16th AA at the L10 Nationals, Senior A division. Link: YouTube.com Channel

Women's NCAA Committee Recommends Changes

The Women's NCAA Committee has recommended several changes, subject to approval by the NCAA Championship/Sports Management Cabinet:
a. "Four on the Floor": four teams in the NCAA Finals instead of six
b. 6 up, 6 count in Regionals and Nationals, not in the regular season
c. Championships on Friday/Saturday/Sunday.
The changes, if finally approved, would be implemented starting in 2011.

2009-2010: Gill to Illinois

Elise Gill is headed to Illinois, according to the Stillwater Gazette. The L10 from Perpetual Motion tied for 8th AA and 2nd on VT at the 2009 Region IV L10 Regionals, Sr. D. She also finished 1st on VT, 4th(t) on FX and 5th(t) AA at the 2008 Level 9 Western Nationals. Link: YouTube.com Channel
2010-2011: Musgrove to Penn State

Lindsay Musgrove has committed to PSU for 2010-2011, according to a site submission. Musgrove is a L10 who trains at WGA Texans. She qualified to the 2009 L10 Nationals in the Senior B group, placing 50th in the AA after a 2nd place AA finish at Regionals. In 2008, she was the state UB champ and placed 14th AA at the Region III L10 Regionals. Link: YouTube.com Channel

2009-2010: Washington Adds Bixler and Tham

Washington has announced the additional signings of Paige Bixler and Phoebe Tham. Bixler's commit was covered in a previous news item.
Tham is a National Open athlete who trains at Surrey Gymnastics. At the 2009 Canadian Championships, she placed 8th AA and 2nd UB in the National Open Finals.
